New Features in V-Ray 7

Gaussian splats Support

Thanks to Gaussian Splats' novel scene reconstruction, you can easily contextualise buildings or render complex 3D environments with precise reflections and refractions. Fill your scenes with splats of real environments or objects that are memory efficient and rich in detail.

Virtual tours

Create immersive, interactive virtual tours directly from the V-Ray interface - no third-party app required. Easily create panoramic virtual tours with automatic hotspot generation thanks to the direct integration between V-Ray 7 VFB and Chaos Cloud. Customise your tours by adding floor plans, personalising hotspots and transitions and adding contextual details and design elements.

Individually defined render areas

Refine and render specific parts of your scene with custom regions in the VFB and avoid unnecessary re-rendering. Create multiple regions of any shape to focus precisely on areas that need fine-tuning.

Vignette Layer

Easily apply the vignette effect with the new flexible vignette layer in VFB. Customise its shape and apply it to any render element to achieve accurate and precise results.

Colour correction presets

With the new colour correction presets in VFB, you can quickly try out different looks and then adapt them perfectly to your creative ideas.

Firefly Removal

The new algorithm automatically recognises and removes bright pixels (fireflies) during rendering, which reduces the time required to create the final images. Overall, this significantly accelerates the rendering speed.

Instance Brush

Refine your scattering with the new Chaos Scatter Brush. Easily add details or remove unwanted instances with simple brush strokes.

Distribution Maps

Achieve a realistic look with the new Chaos Scatter Distribution Maps library or experiment with the new instance distribution.

Faster scatter-heavy Scene Export

Save time by exporting scatter-heavy scenes to the Chaos Cloud or V-Ray render farms faster. Only the scatter settings are exported to the new V-Ray standalone scatter plugin, reducing the size of the .vrscene and speeding up the export process.

V-Ray Luminaires

Achieve more realistic lighting faster and optimise the atmosphere of your designs by supporting complex lighting elements in the ever-growing Chaos Cosmos library.

Even better V-Ray Sun & Sky

Create even more realistic images and very impressive animations with the improved PRG sky model, which now supports nautical twilight and reproduces the sky at different observer altitudes up to several kilometres.

Hundreds of brand new assets

Take advantage of the new Chaos Cosmos assets, including plants, people, fabrics and furniture. The library is constantly expanding, with more brands offering sofas, chairs and other items for sale.

Asset Variants Support

Explore the Chaos Cosmos library to find the ideal asset for your scene. Selected 3D vegetations now offer seasonal options, such as summer leaves or autumn foliage, along with additional variations and asset classes, including people, coming soon.

V-Ray Profiler

Get detailed reports on the time required to calculate shaders, export scenes, compile geometry and load bitmaps. Identify hotspots in your scene to optimise workflows for faster rendering. Combine this with the Memory Tracker to gain even more insight.

V-Ray Lister Geometry Tab

The V-Ray Lister is now even more powerful with a new tab for managing V-Ray geometry objects (Proxy, Fur, Decal, Clipper and more). Advanced filter options make it easier to navigate and control multiple geometry settings directly from the lister's user interface.

Faster time to first Pixel.

Enjoy improved interactive rendering with reduced time to first pixel, with optimisations for rendering scatter and texture-heavy scenes. The upload of scene data to the GPU and geometry compilation have also been accelerated.

GPU Caustics

V-Ray GPU now supports Caustics and enables realistic reflections and refractions in production and interactive rendering. The new Photon Mapping-based Caustics solver is optimised for GPU hardware and delivers significantly faster results than CPU rendering.

Out-of-core Textures

Render texture-heavy scenes even more efficiently with the new out-of-core textures. Add incredible detail without compromising shading quality as textures are now only limited by memory.

Revised V-Ray scene converter

Convert scenes to V-Ray with the redesigned tool that is simple and powerful. Selectively convert only the objects you need, update materials effortlessly with the new material processor and convert textures to TX files for optimised performance.

Extended USD support

V-Ray now supports the latest official version of USD for Autodesk 3ds Max 0.9.0, so you can take advantage of all the new features and improvements.

OpenPBR support

Achieve consistent shading with OpenPBR. V-Ray now supports the OpenPBR material from 3ds Max 2025.3 and shortens production time by reducing manual adjustments between compatible renders.
